The premiere was held there, and Juliana Moore, who played the actress Havana, won the prize for Best Actress. About 8-10 years passed before the plot of Bruce Wagner's script reached the cinema screens. Even at the beginning of zeros, the director read the binding, but the script remained lying in the desk drawer. The main reason was the lack of funding. The money eventually came both from Canadian investors and not without the help of German patrons. That is why the director did not know whether he would be able to shoot "Star Map" in America (Los Angeles) or not. However, everything worked out, and in addition to the Americans in the frame, the film became the first American film in Cronenberg's resume. The roles that went to John Cusack and Julianne Moore were initially offered to Viggo Mortensen and Rachel Weisz. The cast was completely selected by May 9, 2013. The filming took a total of about thirty days. The director and his team worked in Los Angeles for five days, and they spent the remaining twenty in Toronto.
