It shows the designer's search for inspiration for his works and his personal life. Saint Laurent turns to the interpretation of Proust, he appears in the frame of Andy Warhol's works. That time during his life created history and it was this rhythm that saturated Ivo, such as, for example, various parties and meetings in Marrakech. Director Bertrand Bonello not only directed the film, but also worked on the script, showing the period 1967-1976 in the frame. Pierre Berge, the founder of the house named after the fashion designer, however, did not give Bonello official consent to reveal a part of his life in the film format. Already during the creation of "Saint Laurent. The passion of the great couturier", the creators were going to include it in the competition at the international film festival in Cannes. It so happened that the tape won the "Palme Dog Award - Special Mention" there, fulfilling the hopes of the creators. "Saint Laurent. Passions of a great couturier" was also included in the program of the film festival in New York. Bertrand Bonello began filming the biography on September 30, 2013. Even at the preparatory stage, there were rumors that Andy Warhol would play Willem Dafoe, but later the director himself denied them. The premiere of the film was originally planned for March 2014, but it was changed so that the film could still be shown at Cannes. Helmut Berger, who had not appeared on the screen for a long time, did not immediately agree to Bonello's request to play the deceased couturier.
