The Lazarus Effect
The Lazarus Effect
The students of the research institute, led by Frank and Zoe, are on the verge of a grand discovery. But only this breakthrough in science has rather creepy features. Young people were able to do what humanity has been dreaming of doing for centuries - they revived a dead test subject. However, the dean, having learned about the unauthorized operation, closes the case and takes away the documents and files. Zoe and Frank decide not to stop there and try to resume the experiments alone. But something goes wrong and the girl dies. Frank decides to revive his beloved, not knowing what it will cost him. Read more The title of the thriller comes from the Gospel of John. If we follow the source, Lazarus was the name of the man from Bethany whom Jesus revived. It was this name that was in the first versions of the film's title. Already closer to the premiere of the film, or rather in December 2014, it was changed to "The Lazarus Effect". The reference to biblical events became the final frames, where you could see the flashing "From John 11", it is there that the case of the resurrection of man by the son of God is described. Despite the fact that "The Lazarus Effect" is released in 2015, its filming ended in 2013. Olivia Wilde, while working on the role, was inspired by Viscount Valmont, who was played by John Malkovich in the drama "Dangerous Liaisons". As many know, the experience of playing a doctor is not the first for the actress, if you remember the popular series "Doctor House". But the most interesting thing is that Evan Peters, one of the main actors of the film, also played in this series. True, a cameo role, unlike Wilde. For director David Gelb, the experience of working on this film was the first introduction to the genre, so to speak, of science fiction. He was offered to direct the film by producer Matthew Kaplan, who noticed the promising director during the presentation of the documentary "Dziro's Dreams about Sushi" (2011).
