Read more The story of Captain Harlock, aka Captain Blood, begins in several seasons of the anime series that began in the late 70s. The series itself was based, as is often the case in Japan, on manga. It was announced in 2010 that a full-length version would be shown, and on big screens around the world. Then a pilot video was shown, which made it clear that the remake of the brave Harlock will be made in 3D. During the production of Shinji Aramaki's full-length anime remake, the latest technologies were used in the creation of graphics. A large part of the working budget, which is about 30 million dollars, was spent on this, which is a significant amount for a Japanese film product. Even James Cameron himself noted the quality of textures and approach. With all the charisma of a bandit, the main character of the film is a prototype of a samurai with his virtues. After the creation, the anime premiered in the competitive programs of famous film festivals, such as the 70th Venice International Film Festival. In Japan, Aramaki's work was nominated for a special prize for animation, although in general the illustration of the captain's movements received mixed reviews.
