Read more 20th Century Fox announced the film "Victor Frankenstein" in 2011. Max Landis, who worked on the TV series "Masters of Horror", the science fiction "Chronicle", "Ultra-Americans" with Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart, and others, was appointed screenwriter. A year later, Paul McGuigan took the director's chair of the project, although Sean Levy was also considered. In addition to successful television works ("Sherlock", "Life as a Show", "Scandal") he also directed "Acid House" by Irwin Welsh, "Obsession", "Slevin's Lucky Number" with Josh Hartnett and others. Paul McGuigan insisted on the name "Victor Frankenstein" so that the public would no longer confuse the creator with his creation. Although the story is an adaptation of Mary Shelley's novel, there is no such character as Igor. The director wanted to make a more modern version, but at the same time, the plot follows the same order as in the book. The role of Frankenstein went to the Scotsman James McAvoy, a currently popular actor who starred in "X-Men", "Trance", "Broody" and others. His assistant is played by Daniel Radcliffe, who has shown that he is able to move away from the character of Harry Potter and perform more serious roles. So, he played the famous American poet and beatnik Allen Ginsberg in "Kill Your Favorites" and took part in the filming of the adaptation of the story of Stephen King's son "Horns".
