"Christmas Trees 1914" features Kostyantyn Khabensky, whose voice could be heard in all three previous films, for the first time. Actor Artur Smolyaninov, whose character was supposed to show pirouettes in scenes with figure skating, underwent difficult training. True, earlier, as a child, he had experience of skating, as he played for the hockey team. For Svetlakov and Urgant, who went through all parts of the film series, this project became the first experience of shooting in a historical film. Following the plot and the necessary environment, the shooting of the comedy "Christmas trees 1914" took place in Irkutsk, Omsk, Voronezh, St. Petersburg, Krasnoyarsk, etc. The final scenes of each novel were filmed in these cities. For this, ordinary residents were also invited, who needed to register by certain dates. When registering, you had to send a photo of yourself in festive clothes and no black colors in your clothes. Those who received invitations had to come with a cell phone to take a group selfie. This is how the Russian record for joint photography was set. Theaters and music and opera halls served as filming locations.
