Read more The most authentic Ukrainian cartoon "Babai" is not the first to try to get onto the screens in 3D format, if we take the animation segment. Previously, there was an attempt to create "Mykyta Kozhumyak", directed by Mykhailo Kostrov. However, due to many revisions and troubles, including financial ones, the project somehow stalled. So the initiative was taken by the director Maryna Vedmid, who was offered by the Ukranimafilm studio to work on the script by Vadym Shinkarev. They worked on the project for five years, if we take the emergence of the idea of creating this story as a starting point. The heroes of "Babai" became the characters of the most genuine Ukrainian folklore. There was no question that all of them would find a worthy embodiment, because at that time the Ukranimafilm studio had undergone an "update" and was ready for such projects. Each second of the film cost the creators approximately 10 dollars. It is worth noting the fact that compared to other countries, this figure is six times smaller. Initially, the cartoon was called "Who's Afraid of Uncle Babai?", and its characters were to be voiced by Victor Andriyenko and Lesya Ukrainka theater actors. As a result, the cast has changed a little.
