The film will tell about a scientist who was killed as a result of an attack by terrorists opposing the development of technology. Colleagues miraculously manage to save his life by transferring his mind into his latest invention - a supercomputer with the ability to think on its own. For the cameraman, the film "The Advantage" became his directorial debut. When Jack Paglen, the screenwriter of the film, showed the script to the studio circle, the work was blacklisted from Hollywood scripts until the cameraman Nolan and the director himself took up the matter. The case was postponed until March 2012, when the rights were bought by Alcon Entertainment. Perhaps the reason for its low popularity was the fact that the plot resonated with the story shown in "The Lawnmower" based on the book by Stephen King. Actors Jude Law, Tobey Maguire, James McAvoy applied and were offered the main role, which was played by Johnny Depp. Depp was approved for the role in October 2012, promising him 20 million dollars. Meanwhile, the British Emily Blunt and the American Rooney Mara could take the main female role. The final cast was already formed in early 2013 without further changes. Since, together with Nolan, Wally Pfister is a fan of the film format in the filming of the film, he did not allow digital cameras in the work on "The Advantage". The same applied to the further processing of the film. Beginning in June 2013, the shooting of the fantastic tape lasted a little more than 60 days.
