Read more The animated series, which served as the source and inspiration for the creation of "Bukashka 3D", began in 2006. The creators were Thomas Zabo and Helen Giraud, who in the end came to create a full-length version. As in the short films, "Insects. Adventure in the Valley of Ants", a compilation of real footage of landscapes with nature and characters created using computer graphics was used on a video camera. The total number of the film crew did not exceed twenty-five people, as in the case of the original series. Work on the animated film began in 2011, but was completed only in 2013, as the film was shot in two stages. Location filming took place in Ekren and Mankartun National Parks. Anthills were built in the suburbs of Paris using Styrofoam. These were seven sets, 60 cm in size. For Zabo and Giro, "Insects. Adventure in the Valley of Ants" became the first full-length film. The scene where the flies chase the sun was taken from the same movie with Buster Keaton. Due to the fact that Hélène Giraud is the daughter of the famous artist Mobius, and Zabo is a fan of his works, after the word "End" in the finale, there was an appeal to the late Jean Giraud.
