Ishmael, on whose behalf the story is told, a young man, goes sailing as a sailor on the whaler Pequod. Shortly after leaving the port, it turns out that the "Pecoda" flight is not at all similar to ordinary whaling flights. The "Pecoda" captain Ahab lost his leg in a fight with the White Whale - Moby Dick. Now he went out to sea to find the monster and take revenge on him. He declared to the crew that he intends to pursue the White Whale and nothing will make him give up the chase. Captivated by the captain's frenzied energy, the crew swears to hate the White Whale. The meeting with the giant will take place in "his possessions", near the equator. The fight will last three days...
