Good Night, and Good Luck.
Good Night, and Good Luck.
The story of the titanic media battle of the 1950s, which became one of the most glorious events in the history of American television. Renowned journalist and broadcaster Edward R. Marrow has launched a personal crusade against notorious Senator Joseph McCarthy. In his revealing speeches on the See It Now program, Marrow made a scathing criticism of the McCarthy-initiated "witch hunt" and drew the attention of the American community to the importance of adhering to democratic principles of government... More 1950. Television journalism is just getting back on its feet. The film tells about the real conflict between TV journalist Edward R. Murrow and Senator Joseph McCarthy. In order to tell the truth to the people, Murrow and his dedicated team, led by producer Fred Friendly and Joe Werschba, overcome pressure from the corporation and sponsors, try to find out what dirty tactics and lies McCarthy resorted to during his "communist witch hunt." The open enmity between the journalists and the senator becomes even more intense when McCarthy accuses Murrow of being a communist himself. Interesting fact: The film used a documentary chronicle with the participation of Senator McCarthy. At test screenings of the film, unaware viewers claimed that the actor playing McCarthy was "overacting". After the release of this film, I can only humbly admit that George turned out to be the best newsmaker in the family.
