Having accidentally discovered a board game with the strange name "Jumanji", Alan Parrish, not knowing about its supernatural properties, is transported to the jungle in front of his surprised girlfriend. For many years he is in the underworld, until two unsuspecting teenagers find the game and remove the magic spell, freeing Alan from years of captivity.
