Chicago during the Great Depression. Two sons, Michael Sullivan Jr. and Conor Rooney, are desperate to win the favor of their parents, Michael Sullivan Sr., a gangster from an Irish clan, and John Rooney, Sullivan Sr.'s boss, who replaced his father. Jealousy and rivalry push them all down a disastrous path. The family of Sullivan Sr. becomes a victim of the terrible "profession" of the head of the family. His beloved wife and youngest son Peter die. Revenge and tragedy become constant companions for Michael and his surviving son...
