The plot of the picture is very touching - about the friendship between Elliot, a withdrawn boy living in a provincial town in California, and an intelligent, benevolent alien being who accidentally got lost on Earth. Elliot tries to help his new friend not only to contact his planet, but also to save him from imminent death. The two of them have to hide from scientists and government agents who are going to use the alien for their own purposes. For each of them, it becomes a real adventure, which they did not even dare to dream about before...
